Community Building through Healing Arts 2024/2025
2024 was particularly fulfilling for my emergence of bringing healing arts to my community. As well as creating and participating in the creation of safe spaces in multiple capacities.
Full Moon Gatherings
I began hosting Full Moon Gatherings at Barefoot Yoga Studio in Little Rock, Arkansas. These gatherings meet monthly to celebrate each full moon. In this unique offering, I blend a somatic healing through breath work and gentle movement with a therapeutic journaling practice. Journal prompts and discussions are inspired by the astrological aspects of each moon. The full moon represents the culmination of the moon’s monthly cycle and is the perfect time for reflection and releasing. We collectively share a burn and release ritual as well as self-guided oracle readings.
It is an honor to be leading this gathering, to show up each month to and with a new season’s energy. I am continuing to host these throughout 2025. You can check the homepage of my website for future dates or scroll to the end of this post for the direct link to book below. :)
Radical Release Retreat Facilitator
I am on the team of artists and facilitators for the Radical Release Retreat 2025. This retreat provides a creative rest portal for Black Mothers recently freed from incarceration and their children. The retreat will be a weekend long in March, hosted on the beautiful campus of Camp Mitchell at Petit Jean Mountain (AR). A big thank you to the creators, Sarah Martin and Fernando Smith, for inviting me into transformative offering.
The group of facilitators came together over the winter solstice in December of 2024 on the campus of Camp Mitchell to strategize and spend a weekend in communion healing ourselves before we present this offering. Above are pictures highlighting our time together. I was honored to lead a yoga practice on the bluff of the mountain centered in grounding ourselves to the land.
We all shared the offerings we will present to the mothers and children in March to one another here first. I shared an offering of creating medicine bags, a practice that has brought me peace and protection while reconnecting to my indigeneity. During the 2025 retreat I will lead a workshop for the children offering them space to connect with the land and create their own medicine bags that they will be able to keep for spiritual support. I also will host a world building workshop for the kids where they will be prompted through collage, paint, and poetry to visualize the life they want to live.
Other facilitator offerings include Yoga Nidra, Expressive Writing through Poetry, Expressive Art Making, Cord Cutting Rituals, Zine Making, and so much more.
Milestone Public Tarot Readings
Two very special events asked me to facilitate tarot readings.
In April, I was hired by the city of North Little Rock’s Department of Tourism to facilitate tarot readings for their Solar Eclipse watch party. This was an incredible experience where I read for over 30 people of all ages. Lots of people were traveling through Arkansas solely just to watch the Great Solar Eclipse. The Solar Eclipse also holds a deep spiritual significance, brining a propelling energy towards our ideas and dreams. It was amazing to further facilitate transformation for eclipse watchers to really connect with the energy of the cosmos!
In October, I had the fortune of reading tarot for Hairpin’s Halloween Edition. Hairpin’s is a pop-up experience that happens in Little Rock, Arkansas for lesbians and queers to gather at Little Rock’s historic White Water Tavern. Fun fact, this was also the first time this legendary dive bar has ever hosted tarot readings. Partnering with the organizers of Hairpins, we were able to offer donation based readings for our community on that magical evening. The turn out was amazing, with a line out the door for my booth. If you waited and received a reading that night, thank you!!! If you are curious to know more about hairpins events scroll down to the link below!
Tarot Reader Residency
I had the joy of setting up shop many times at my favorite local specialty store, 3 Hidden Gems. They are a black-owned, women-owned business, offering crystals and herbs by Desiree Cooley, and amazing handmade body care products by Nicole Janae. They have also just launched a new moon circle that they will be hosting all of 2025. If you come to my full moon classes (or even if you don’t!) I highly recommend checking out their new moon circle. Having a communal practice on both the new moon and full moon will work hand in hand strengthening one another.
It has been a great pleasure coming to their shop every couple of months to provide readings. You can definitely expect to see our collaborations continue in 2025!
Building Trade Based Economies & Community Care
As a birthday gift to myself, I hosted a clothing swap, inviting my community over to trade closets!
This offering creates a network for free, trade based economies to thrive. Here friends brought their gently used clothes that they no longer wanted and had the opportunity to exchange wardrobes with others for free.
It was also just so much freaking fun… it’s like thrifting amongst friends, FOR FREE!
I definitely hope to host more of these in 2025.
