Art Adventures of 2024
January 2024- I started out the year by finding my Victorian Homes painting its forever home.
Artist of the Month (April 2024) at Community Bakery, LR, AR.
I was featured as Artist of the Month (April 2024) at Community Bakery, LR, AR.
As Community Bakery’s chosen Artist of the month, I was given a solo show exhibiting the full month of April on the generous walls of Little Rock’s most historic Bakery. It was wonderful sharing an opening night with family and friends as well as revisiting the work with many people throughout the month over yummy coffee and pastries!
Artist INC Fellow & Artist Talk at Arkansas Department of Heritage
I was accepted as a fellow for the Artist INC Little Rock, cohort of 2024. This program worked closely pairing artists with mentors and other peers to develop one’s art career further. This is in partnership with the Arkansas Arts Council and is awarded through the Mid-America Arts Alliance. At the end of our time together, we had a culminating artist talk that was open to the public at the Arkansas Department of Heritage. This program helped propel my art in a lot of ways; planning for and giving the artist talk was a powerful experience to get me thinking about the history of myself as an artist and the context of my work in a meaningful way to share with others.
Stop Genocide Mural Painting
Painted the Stop Genocide Mural on 7th St in Little Rock, AR, with artist Tanya Hollifield.
Tanya brought me onto this project seeing my interest in working on murals after we met as peer artists in Artist INC. I was especially interested in the content of this mural, raising awareness for the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
We finished the mural during Little Rock's own Peace Week, where THV 11 broadcasted the project. You can watch our interview on the link button below.
Loud for Palestine Fine Arts Auction
The fight for Palestinian liberation continues, and so does our activism and aid through Art.
In November of 2024, Little Rock Peace for Palestine hosted an art auction and formal dinner with delicious middle eastern cuisine. Both of my wall pieces pictured here sold at auction with proceeds sent as aid to Palestinians.
Best in Show at 8x8 Exhibition
My multimedia piece “The House Smelled like Biscuits that Night” was accepted into the 8x8 Exhibition at the Lawrence Arts Center in Kansas, and was awarded Best in Show by Juror Vanessa German.
Familiar Somethings Group Exhibition
In November of 2024, my artist peer and friend, Scarlett Clements invited me to show work in her show Familiar Somethings.
This show included many young artists in a DIY space, turning an empty nearly abandoned apartment into an exhibition space for one night only.
The theme of this show echoed themes of identity and self expression. I immediately connected the theme to the idea of familial origins, and returned to a set of oil paintings I made a few years back when investigating my identity within the context of my family. I selected these three pieces that were painted from photographs of my family and self.
Inspiring Studio Visits
I shared impactful studio visits and practices with two inspiring artists and friends. Thank you to Tanya Hollifield (LR, AR) and Kevin Demery (KC, MO).
Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts
I continued my professional position as Shift Lead for Guest Services at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts.
This year at the museum, I was able to help welcome guests in for a handful of new exhibitions and alongside that assist in the art making activities, artist talks, and tours that came with them.
